HUGE updated given of Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana’s future at the club!

Mamelodi Sundowns captain Hlompho Kekana has played his last match for the club, according to the latest reports doing the rounds.

Kekana who is yet to feature this season for Sundowns is thought to not be in the plans of the clubs coaches for the upcoming season.

Having already seemingly fallen out with the coaches last season and seeing his opportunities limited at Sundowns, it is now believed that Kekana will not play another competitive game for the Brazilians. Despite still being the club’s official captain it looks like the club are open to parting ways with the long serving player, if he does not accept their alternative.

Kekana given ultimatum at Sundowns

According to TimesLIVE, Kekana has been given two options, either stay at Sundowns and take up a behind the scenes Ambassador role, that will see him hang his playing boots up, or if he still feels like he still has something to offer on the field of play, the club are willing to sanction a loan move away from the club.

Kekana who was a regular and very key component of Pitso Mosimane’s Sundowns era, only made a combined 15 appearances in all competitions for Masandawana under the stewardship of their three new coaches Manqoba Mngqithi, Rulani Mokwena and Steve Komphela. That would’ve been the first sign that the club had possibly moved on from the player as well as his former terrible midfield twin Tiyani Mabunda who also found himself in the same situation.

One of the most decorated PSL players

The former Bafana Bafana international is one of the most decorated PSL players in history having won six league titles with Sundowns to go with his 2016 CAF Champions League and 2017 CAF Super Cup titles. Kekana also boasts two league titles with Supersport United under the tutelage of Gavin Hunt before joining Bafana Bastyle.
