In his own words, Zinnbauer admitted that it is his wish, and that of every coach to have strikers in their team.

But before saying that, Zinnbauer revealed that it’s not his decision alone to make a call to bring in any player to Pirates.

Nonetheless, Zinnbauer is eager to soldier on with the strikers he has at his disposal right now, especially Tshegofatso Mabasa and Zakhele Lepasa.

The two strikers have struggled with injuries since last season but Zinnbauer confirmed they are on a comeback.

As things stand, Pirates’ only trusted striker is Gabadinho Mhango who has struggled for form but will hope to do better in the new season.

“It’s a discussion we don’t speak about here [in the media]. We cannot speak about a transfer here,” confirmed Zinnbauer to the media.

“I can say, every coach wants strikers. We saw what happened last season, we played with a false nine for a long time, and the second striker was then Hotto, who is normally not a striker,” he continued.

“So, now we have to pray we get Mabasa back as quickly as possible, Lepasa back as quickly as possible, and one of the young strikers in the squad,” added Zinnbauer.
