Watch: ‘Catch of the tournament!’ – Quinton de Kock takes a stunner in The Hundred

It’s official: Quinton de Kock can move in FOUR dimensions. The Proteas glovesman claimed one of the best catches of his career on Sunday night – and the grab was declared as a ‘standout moment’ of The Hundred so far.

London Spirit vs Southern Brave RESULT

De Kock, who recently went viral for a genius bit of fielding he pulled off for South Africa against Pakistan, showed sharp reactions once more, as his Southern Brave franchise ousted London Spirit by four runs in a thrilling encounter.

In fact, QDK also recorded a superb run-out, holding his nerve to send Blake Cullen back to the pavilion. However, by this point, his show-stopper had already wowed the crowds at Lord’s.

The dangerous Josh Inglis, who scored a valiant 55, was looking to add more runs to his total when he decided to play a reverse sweep off Chris Jordan. However, Quinton de Kock was able to anticipate the shot, and moved over slightly to his right. Inglis tickled the ball away, but it couldn’t escape the outstretched mitt of the nimble wicketkeeper.

England’s new cricket tournament: What is The Hundred?

The Hundred is certainly a divisive competition. Whereas some have championed it as a ‘new era’ for franchise cricket, more traditional fans of the game have lamented some of the shifting fundamentals.

Bowlers only delivering five balls at a time instead of six – and a shift from ‘wickets’ to ‘outs’ – has infuriated the purists. However, as Quinton de Kock has shown us, it is an undeniable source of thrilling entertainment.
