Bulls dealt massive Covid-19 blow on eve of Currie Cup final

The Bulls have been dealt a massive blow ahead of Saturday’s Currie Cup final against the Sharks after flyhalf Johan Goosen was ruled out with Covid.

According to the SuperSport website, Goosen tested positive in the mandatory test 48 hours after the semi-finals and will miss the final while in quarantine.


None of the other players tested positive and the rest of the squad will continue to train for the final with the team to be named on Friday.

The loss of Goosen is a particularly bad blow for the Bulls who are already without Morne Steyn who is with the Springboks in Australia,


Goosen was in excellent form in their semi-final win over Western Province where he scored 23 points.

Goosen was predictably named man of the match and post-match received high praise from coach Jake White.


Chris Smith is likely to to replace Goosen.


Kick-off on Saturday, 11 September is at 17:00.
