Kaizer Chiefs update squad jersey numbers after transfer window

By updating their first-team squad jersey numbers for the season, Kaizer Chiefs appear to have made a final decision the futures of Lazarous Kambole and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya.

Kambole and Ntiya-Ntiya were among those transfer-listed by the club at the end of last season, meaning Kaizer Chiefs were eager to entertain offers for them.

However, while there was reported interest – especially for Kambole – nothing materialised as the duo didn’t find new employers before the transfer window closed on 31 August.

Amakhosi updated the jersey numbers list for their first team squad for the season on their website – and both Kambole and Ntiya-Ntiya have been left out.

Interestingly though, their jersey numbers – No 7 for Kambole and No 36 for Ntiya-Ntiya – have not been allocated to anyone else in the team.

What’s unclear, at this stage, is whether or not the duo are registered with the PSL to perhaps feature for Kaizer Chiefs this season.

If that’s not the case then the chances of the duo leaving Naturena when the mid-season transfer window opens in January 2022 are very high.

Should Kaizer Chiefs decide to part ways with both Kambole and Ntiya-Ntiya now, then the duo will have to wait for the next transfer window to open before returning to football.

That’s because FIFA rules prohibit players who were not free agents when the previous window closed from signing with another team outside of a transfer window.
