ANC’s Jessie Duarte recovering in hospital, placed on medical leave

The African National Congress (ANC) has wished its deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte a speedy recovery after she was admitted to a hospital on Sunday over “gastrointestinal complications.” She has since been placed on medical leave.

“The DSG was admitted to hospital on Sunday, 28 November 2021 with gastrointestinal complications requiring various investigations, an interventional procedure and other treatment. Further results are awaited. The initial procedure has been successful. As a result, the DSG will be on medical leave for the next few weeks. She will discharge her duties and responsibilities in accordance with advice from her medical team,” says ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe.

PRESIDENT CYRIL RAMAPHOSA VISITS JESSIE DUARTE

ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa has already paid a visit to Jessie Duarte in hospital on Tuesday, 30 November 2021. According to Mabe, Ramaphosa found Duarte to be in good spirits and conveyed the best wishes of the leadership and membership to her and her family.

She is being treated by an excellent medical team headed by Professor Jose Ramos of the University of the Witwatersrand, Mabe added.

Duarte’s hospitalisation doesn’t necessarily mean Luthuli House (The ANC’s headquarters) will be brought to a standstill. The ANC says some of its NEC members and other officials will continue with work at the Office of the Secretary General.

“The work of the ANC in general, and the Office of the Secretary General in particular, will continue unabated. The DSG will be assisted in the execution of her duties and functions by full-time National Officials and NEC members based at ANC headquarters. The National Officials will make further announcements in this regard in due course.”

ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe

News of Duarte’s hospitalisation comes as the ANC has been hard at work, like most other political parties, following the local government elections. It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Luthuli House as it has been finalising coalition agreements in some of the 66 hung municipalities, while also trying to retain power in others.

No state funds utilised for payment, delivery of cattle to Zuma: Mkhwebane

Public Protector Busi Mkhwebane has sought to explain why she will not pursue the matter against former North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo in relation to his alleged facilitation of the delivery of cattle to former President Jacob Zuma‘s home at Nkandla in KwaZulu-Natal.

Former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) secretary-general Godrich Gardee lodged the complaint in April 2018.

The complaint was based on a newspaper article that detailed that Mahumapelo delivered the herd of cattle costing R1.5 million, meant for emerging farmers to Zuma as a gift.

Mkhwebane says the state did not pay for the donation and delivery of the cattle.

“No state funds were utilised for the payment and delivery of cattle to the former President. There is also no evidence to indicate that the former Premier abused the public trust and the fiscus for his private benefit, thereby violating clauses 2.1 and 2.3 of the Executive Ethics Code. In light of the afore-going, we have therefore decided not to pursue the matter any further and thus finalise it by means of a closing report,” adds Mkhwebane.

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane releases investigation reports:

Money Heist spin-off Berlin starring Pedro Alonso to premiere on Netflix in 2023

On November 30, the Money Heist cast attended a fan event. The event saw the cast, creators and fans from all over the world in a global celebration of the legacy of La Casa de Papel. In anticipation of the launch of the show finale on December 3rd, the event featured conversations with the stars of the show, exclusive announcements, and exciting content.

“It is a memorable moment because it is the end of one cycle and the beginning of another,” Alonso said at the fan event. “Today I was talking to Jesús Colmenar and we were saying that now we walk into the unknown, open to whatever happens and without expectations.”

“I know that these people will give the series every possible twist and turn,” he said. “The responsibility (of spinning off such a popular series) can be a burden and a prison, I hope we continue to have the courage to use this wonderful energy to risk everything again,” he added.

Set in Madrid, the Money Heist gang has been shut in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours. They have managed to rescue Lisbon, but their darkest moment is upon them after losing one of their own. The Professor has been captured by Sierra and, for the first time, doesn’t have an escape plan. Just when it seems like nothing else could go wrong, an enemy comes on the scene that is much more powerful than any they’ve faced: the army. The end of the greatest heist in history is approaching, and what began as a robbery will turn into a war. Part 5 of the iconic series will be released in two volumes, on September 3 and December 3, 2021.

The Fatal Kiss: Jacqueline Fernadez’s peck gets her into trouble; she might seek Salman Khan’s help to bail her out of the situation

There are whispered insinuations and veiled smirks in the entertainment industry about the company that Jacqueline Fernandez keeps, after pictures of her cozying up with alleged extortionist Sukesh Chandrasekhar surfaced online.

The Fatal Kiss: Jacqueline Fernadez’s peck gets her into trouble; she might seek Salman Khan’s help to bail her out of the situation

Typically, the actress denied knowing the incarcerated wheeler-dealer. And then clammed up, hoping that the troubles would vanish like a bad dream. But with pictorial evidence carpeting the internet, Ms. Fernandez faces the stickiest situation in her career so far.

A well-known director who knows her well says Jacqueline wasn’t aware of Chandrashekhar's business activities, “He showered her with attention and expensive gifts. She fell for it. She probably didn’t check his identity. Which is as bad as Shilpa Shetty claiming she didn’t know what her husband was up to. If you’re dating/marrying someone you can’t be blind to what he does,” says the director.

Years ago Raj Kapoor’s discovery Mandakini of Ram Teri Ganga Maili fame was caught in highly dubious company. It killed her career. Nothing as drastic is likely to happen to Jacqueline’s career.

A co-star of the actress tells me she will seek the help of her mentor-guide Salman Khan to bail her out of the situation. This likelihood apart the next few weeks won’t be easy on Ms. Fernandez. She has a lot of answering to do. And she may not have the answers that the government agencies are looking for.

Nine more from Munster test positive for COVID-19 in South Africa

Munster have nine new COVID-19 cases in their camp in South Africa, the Irish rugby team said on Tuesday, taking the total count to 10.

Both staff and players have tested positive and will quarantine in a hotel in Cape Town, joining the first player who returned a positive test on Sunday.

Welsh side Cardiff also said they had two positive cases over the weekend.

Munster did not say if any of the positive tests were for the new Omicron variant of the virus, which was first detected in Southern Africa.

“The 10 members of the group who have tested positive will remain in Cape Town until the end of their isolation period,” Munster said in a statement.

“The remaining party of 38 have all returned negative results and continue to individually isolate in their rooms where they have been based since Sunday night.

“As outlined by the Irish government on Monday, those that have received negative results have clearance to travel from the South African authorities.”

Munster said that their touring party had further tests on Tuesday, their third in less than 60 hours, and are waiting on the results to decide their next course of action.

Meanwhile, Cardiff said they plan to depart Cape Town on Thursday morning after the club secured a charter flight and quarantine accommodation in England.

The team’s travelling contingent, which includes 15 Welsh internationals, was left stranded in the city after South Africa was placed on the United Kingdom’s red list.

“Upon arrival in England, Wales’ capital city club will then begin a 10-day period of isolation in a UK Government COVID-19 hotel,” Cardiff said in a statement.

Munster are due to play Wasps (December 12) and Castres (December 18) in the group stage of the European Rugby Champions Cup, matches which could now be under threat depending on how long they remain in Cape Town.

Direct flights from South Africa to Britain were halted last week and travellers from Southern Africa arriving in Britain and European Countries face quarantine restrictions as part of steps to avoid the spread of the Omicron variant of the virus.

Ireland is one of the world’s most vaccinated nations, with almost 90% of the country’s eligible 3.9 million people over the age of 12 fully vaccinated.

Rihanna Reportedly Expecting 1st Child With A$AP Rocky

From being declared as a natural Hero in Barbados, to now being reportedly pregnant with her 1st child, Rihanna must be living the life.

The singer and fashion mogul, who will be turning 34 next February was spotted at the Barbados event with her visible baby bump.

MediaTakeOut is the only media organization claiming she’s pregnant, so we don’t know for sure if this info is correct.

Back in September, there were rumors of Rihanna being pregnant by her boyfriend, A$Ap Rocky.

The rumors first began when fans saw photos from Rihanna’s recent cover shoot for Dazed magazine. On the cover of the magazine, the Fenty Beauty founder is seen facing her body away from the camera, sparking the idea that she’s hiding a baby bump.

In another shot, Riri is seen wearing long, blond locs that are draped all across her body as she lay on the floor. The angle of her stomach along with the hair covering it are the shot that received the most “she’s pregnant” comments, with fans perceiving anything besides washboard abs to be a baby bump.

aries

ARIES DAILY HOROSCOPE | Mar 21 – Apr 19

Although it’s a day that has the potential to bring a little light relief, fun, and a little bit of romance too, you may need to moderate yourself for over-the-top responses, particularly when it comes to casual and informal developments. There is a slight tendency to discount the consequence of not amending a small blunder!

Today’s Numbers:  1, 16, 21, 34, 47, 49

daily horoscope - taurus

TAURUS DAILY HOROSCOPE | Apr 20 – May 20

Try not to read too much into too little when it comes to romance. New encounters could come across as something that will develop, but a subtly unreliable undercurrent may well impair judgment. Attached Taureans should try and listen to what’s being said, whereas singles should plan to keep the mood light!

Today’s Numbers: 3, 12, 15, 27, 32, 41

gemini

GEMINI DAILY HOROSCOPE | May 21 – Jun 20

Fresh planetary accents are likely to imbue you with far more magnetism than you realize. Take care with what you say: a warm moment could lead to something more. In addition; there is a tendency to search for greener grasses. It may be wise to figure out the root cause of this!

Today’s Numbers:  5, 9, 13, 22, 36, 43

daily horoscope - cancer

CANCER DAILY HOROSCOPE | Jun 21 – Jul 22

A fretful undercurrent is likely to increase a growing sense of pressure. Attached Cancerians are more likely to strike the wrong note, while singles could find that dates and are not brilliantly well aspected. However, a hard-to-please kind of scenario should ease up after the weekend!

Today’s Numbers: 6, 18, 27, 34, 38, 47

 leo

LEO DAILY HOROSCOPE | Jul 23 – Aug 22

A very minor development in romance could be subject to a moment of poor timing. Given the rather exuberant vibe, it’s possible that you won’t be able to resolve what could be a fairly trivial matter and/or misunderstanding. It may be a good idea to revisit this after a few days!

Today’s Numbers:  7, 9, 12, 16, 23, 39

daily horoscope - virgo

VIRGO DAILY HOROSCOPE | Aug 23 – Sep 22

The guidance offered today is likely to be split between work/career and romance. Either way, a laid-back attitude or an overly overconfident approach will be ill-advised. Neither approach will facilitate the improvements you may seek. It’s the middle ground that you need!

Today’s Numbers: 4, 11, 13, 24, 35, 46

 libra

LIBRA DAILY HOROSCOPE | Sep 23 – Oct 22

It’s a reasonably good day, with financial decisions or commitments strongly-aspected. That said; indirect influences could encourage you to take on a little too much too soon. Look to the short-term future. If you do have to sign on any dotted line then double check what it is you’re signing!

Today’s Numbers:5, 15, 21, 22, 38, 43

daily horoscope - scorpio

SCORPIO DAILY HOROSCOPE | Oct 23 – Nov 21

Your patience levels are likely to drain away quite quickly, and it may be a case of your overly high expectations clashing with others’ low expectations. Careful consideration will be preferable to immediate, instinctive responses. There is almost definitely a middle-of-the-road solution!

Today’s Numbers:9, 16, 24, 29, 33, 46

 sagittarius

SAGITTARIUS DAILY HOROSCOPE | Nov 22 – Dec 21

An array of solar influences indicates a hectic kind of up/down day. The stodgier aspects will be on an equal footing with the dynamic ones, which suggests that you may need to assess each challenge or event on an individual basis. Be cautious where caution is required!

Today’s Numbers: 4, 11, 13, 20, 34, 43

daily horoscope - capricorn

CAPRICORN DAILY HOROSCOPE | Dec 22 – Jan 19

There’s a brief phase of good fortune, but don’t rely on it holding out all day. The morning influences are definitely stronger and brighter than the evening ones, therefore a balanced approach is your best option from start to finish. Trying to push your luck earlier is likely to lead to a niggling worry later in the day!

Today’s Numbers: 5, 15, 17, 21, 36, 45

 aquarius

AQUARIUS DAILY HOROSCOPE | Jan 20 – Feb 18

It’s a mixed day: romance may smoulder, although communications may be unreliable, luck may be on your side and yet cash matters might take a hit. If you want stunning or fabulous results in any area of your life then pick your goals with care. Certain things can’t be magically reversed!

Today’s Numbers: 7, 11, 22, 26, 34, 41

daily horoscope - pisces

PISCES DAILY HOROSCOPE | Feb 19 – Mar 20

Although there should be a noticeable boost of confidence, it may be misplaced and the end result is that you could to ride rough-shod over others when it comes to a specific project or aim. Being flexible means that you’re less likely to ruffle someone’s feathers. Romantic matters are less likely to suffer a setback too!
