Tau has been in inspired form for his new club Al Ahly so far this season and Shobeir believes he deserves respect.

Tau was injured before the start of the season

Tau’s start to life at Al Ahly was threatened by what was first feared to be a long-term injury upon his arrival to the Egyptian capital, Cairo from English Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion. However, the Bafana Bafana international would soon return to full training ahead of the first game of the season, a game in which he subsequently made his much anticipated debut in, and delivered.

Tau scored a brace on his Al Ahly bow, a 4-0 victory over Ismaily SC before following up that feat with yet another brace on Friday against Alexandria-based outfit Smouha in the sixth round fixture of the Egyptian Premier League. Those goals took the tricky wingers goals record up to five in his six appearances for the club thus far, taking him right to the top of the Egyptian Premier League goal scoring charts.

He has since hit the ground running at Al Ahly

Such a feat as well as Tau’s performances have gone a long way to boosting his reputation in Egypt and Al Ahly legend Shobeir believes that the South African deserves all the praise he has garnered thus far. That’s not where he stopped either, making it known that Tau deserves and apology too, before revealing why.

Shobeir explains why the Bafana Bafana international deserves an apology

“Percy Tau deserves the praise, he scored five goals in six appearances with Al Ahly, whoever said he suffers a chronic injury should apologize, El-Hany Soliman’s action [throwing a second ball on the pitch] was wrong, the referee was right not to stop the game, this is something an international goalkeeper shouldn’t do.” Shobeir said as per KingFut.
