Cabin Johnson has broken his silence regarding his abrupt departure from Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly.

Johnson made the trip up North with his compatriot Pitso Mosimane to Al Ahly as his assistant coach however, after 11-months at the CAF Champions League champions, the experienced South African mentor abruptly left the Egyptian giants.

The 63-year-old previously managed the likes of Platinum Stars, SuperSport United, AmaZulu and Black Leopards in the South African top flight.

Johnson has since spoken out about his time out at Al Ahly while reserving special praise for club president Mahmoud El Khatib.

“Sometimes a strong relationship comes to an end, that’s what happened, if a chance avails itself I would happily return to Al Ahly,” Cavin Johnson told Egyptian TV channel ONTime Sports regarding his abrupt departure from Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly.

“My time with Al Ahly was wonderful, I worked with a professional team, and it added to my experience, Al Ahly is an iconic African club.

“Working under the guidance of Mahmoud El-Khatib is one of the best things in my career, he doesn’t speak a lot but he’s always there for the team, and when he speaks, his words have an encouraging effect on everyone.

“El-Khatib was one of Africa’s best players, him being Al Ahly president reflects the club’s ideals, he knows how to lead the club to the summit. I hope he stays in his position for ten more years, he’s brilliant, I haven’t met anyone like him in Egypt,”

While it’s already been over two months since his abrupt departure from Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly, Johnson is yet to return to the touchline despite heavily been linked with a number of PSL sides including Orlando Pirates as well as international posts on the African continent.
