Rangnick Foundation jump the gun
Although the reports did indicate that an official and formal announcement on Rangnick was expected to be made by Manchester United 48 hours from Friday, it seemed like one party had not followed the script and jumped the gun by prematurely making the announcement, before neither of the clubs could make it official.

This premature announcement came in the form of an Instagram post from the Ralf Rangnick Foundations’ official account on Friday. According to The Sun UK the Instagram post was left up for at least an hour before it was eventually taken down. The post, which was also translated by the same publication did not mention Manchester United in it, but did mention that the 63-year-old had ‘signed a contract until the end of the season in the summer 2022 as interim manager has signed for the English club and has got himself a long-await dream come true’
Confirm he is set to stay on as a consultant at the club
The post then went on to confirm what was doing the rounds about Rangnick staying on at Manchester United beyond his role as interim manager until the end of the season, and serve as a consultant.
“He (Rangnick) will then serve as an adviser of the prestigious club for two years” it continued.
Will Manchester United announce him on Sunday?
If the 48 hour time period proves to be accurate, Rangnick is set to be announced by Manchester United on Sunday, on a day where they take on high flying rivals Chelsea away at Stamford Bridge. It is believed that this may not be current interim manager Michael Carrick’s last game in charge, with the former Red Devils midfielder expected to still be in the dugout for another crucial encounter at home to Arsenal on Thursday evening.
