Liverpool and Egypt superstar Mohamed Salah has missed out on the Ballon d’Or award despite the remarkable year he has had.

Salah was tipped to become only the second African player to walk away with this prestigious individual world award – George Weah remains the only African footballer to win the award in 1995.
However, it wasn’t to be as Salah finished in seventh spot, a place behind Manchester United attacker Cristiano Ronaldo who finished sixth.

Salah’s stats are staggering as he featured in 58 official games for both club and country in 2021, and netted 53 goals.
Furthermore, the left-footer provided five assists in the 58 matches he played as he played for Liverpool and Egypt.

Ultimately, the 2021 Ballon d’Or went to PSG superstar and Argentina captain Lionel Messi who had a fine year until he left Barcelona.
