Yes, we all wanted to know why Len Cloete was naked in the video shortly before he was shot in the head by a police officer at a Muldersdrift lodge.
Len’s wife, Chantal, recently spoke out about the incident and clarified what transpired before the shooting that happened at the Misty Hills Lodge.
WHAT HAPPENED BEFORE THE SHOOTING?
In a recent interview with Jacaranda FM, Chantal said she was already asleep when the police arrived on the scene, adding that the commotion woke her up.
She went on to say that the police tried to yank her out of bed, which angered her husband, who, according to her, always prioritised her feeling safe when she went to bed at night.
According to Chantal, Len was not usually an aggressive person, and that he is a family man who has seven children.
THE INCIDENT PLAYED OUT OVER A SPAN OF SEVERAL HOURS
It is believed the incident played out over a span of several hours. She said there were nine or ten police officers.
Chantal said a tired Len told the police to arrest him multiple times during the altercation so that the situation could come to an end, but according to her, police officers kept on taunting him with no intention of diffusing the situation.
“Len asked the police to leave the room as he was tired and wanted to change into pajamas and go to sleep,” she said.
It was at this stage that Len, in an attempt to show police he was tired and done with the incident, changed into his pajamas as he wanted to get into bed and sleep as it was clear that they had no intention of arresting him.

WHY WERE THEIR FRIENDS IN THE SAME ROOM?
Chantal also explained why their friends were with them in the same room at the Muldersdrift lodge.
“We had booked two rooms but only got the key to the room and was denied access to the other booked room, and that is how we all ended up in the same room, Chantal explained.
She said the situation was calm. She and her friend were having coffee inside while the men chatted outside.

“I fell asleep, and the next moment, the police barged into the room, and it was after curfew, and they wanted us to leave.
“I would have never thought that a police officer would shoot my husband in the head from a meter away…Len asked them several times to arrest him, and they didn’t; they just kept on taunting him… I never expected police not to follow protocol… I never expected someone to shoot my husband point-blank from that range,” she said.
According to Chantal, the police could have handled the situation differently.
LEN IS STILL FIGHTING FOR HIS LIFE IN HOSPITAL
Len is still in critical condition in the hospital.
During the interview, Chantal said he was on life support and that doctors would slowly start bringing him out of sedation to assess the damage to his brain. The bullet remains lodged in his head.
A prayer session will be held on Saturday for Len in Lynnwood, Pretoria.
