Shocking videos have been shared after heavy rainfall caused severe flooding in Alberton and Germiston on Thursday evening.
SHOCKING VIDEOS OF FLOODED MALLS AND ROADS ARE SHARED
Videos shared on social media show a hospital, malls, and several roads flooded in the area.
Earlier on Thursday, the SA Weather Services issued a warning for severe thunderstorms and warned that large amounts of small hails, heavy rain, flooding, and damaging winds could occur.
MORE SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED
It furthermore warned that more severe thunderstorms were expected in several parts of the country up until Sunday.

A major storm is also expected to make landfall in Cape Town on Thursday evening.
Areas that could be heavily affected include Strand, Muizenberg, and Cape Point.
Cape Town residents have been cautioned to prepare for gale-force winds.
Environmental Affairs MEC spokesperson James Brent-Styan said the Western Cape Disaster Management Centre had been alerted to severe weather in some parts of the province.
“We are expecting gale force winds, lots of rain, hailstorms, particularly in the interior. This may lead to localised flooding and difficult road driving conditions.”

“Widespread rain showers are expected along the south coast and adjacent interior of the Western Cape,” the SA Weather Services said in a statement.
TOWN OF GEORGE RECENTLY ROCKED BY FLOODS
This comes days after heavy rainfall in George led to severe flooding, which uprooted the city. The flooding was so intense that the George Municipality asked all residents to stay indoors, while several schools were closed due to bad weather.
The George municipality reportedly confirmed widespread infrastructure damage, road closures, and the collapse of one section of the road.
“Social development is on standby at community halls in affected communities for shelter, mattresses and blankets, meals and toiletries,” it reportedly said late on Monday.
