1988 | Benazir Bhutto is sworn in as Prime Minister of Pakistan, becoming the first female Prime Minister of Pakistan.


1982 | First artificial heart transplant at the University of Utah Medical Center. Barney Clark became the first person to receive a permanent artificial heart and  lived for 112 days after the transplant.
