AfroRave artiste Rema is speaking on wealth and why he’s been chasing the bag aggressively.

The 21 year old artist took to Twitter to share words of wisdom in regards to wealth. According to Rema, one works differently when their generational wealth starts with them.

He opines that people aren’t doing too much when they find unconventional ways to breakthrough and also strive to sustain that breakthrough.

Rema also said there’s no shame in hustling, but it all depends on how one defines his success. He further added that in pursuit of success, the worst thing to do is let others define it for you.

The world’s TOP universities: Three SA institutions make the cut

The University of Oxford has been crowned the world’s number one university for a sixth consecutive year in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

The ranking is based on assessments of 1 662 universities from 99 countries and includes an analysis of 108 million citations from 14.4 million research publications.

Second on the list is Harvard University then the University of California. Other institutions included are Stanford, Princeton, Yale, Massachusetts University of Technology, University of California and University of Chicago.

“This past year has demonstrated to our publics, our governments, and even to ourselves just how much universities can contribute to society. The vaccine Oxford developed is being distributed in over 170 countries and over a billion doses have been manufactured. Together our universities have made the strongest possible case for renewed public investment in research universities,” Oxford University’s Louise Richardson told Times Higher Education.

SA universities ranked amongst the best

According to the rankings, released on Thursday, 2 September 2021, the University of Cape Town is the leading learning institution on the continent, claiming the 183rd spot. This was then followed by Stellenbosch University at 251 then Wits University, which was also at position 251 but with slightly fewer points.

The University of Stellenbosch’s Prof Hester Klopper says it is gratifying that the institution continues garnering international praise.

“Stellenbosch University’s consistent performance on the THE World Universities Rankings bodes well for the institution’s vision of being ‘Africa’s leading research-intensive university, globally recognised as excellent, inclusive and innovative, where we advance knowledge in service of society’,” Klopper said.

“What is even more encouraging is that SU managed to improve on most of the indicators used by THE World Universities Rankings. This is no mean feat taking into account the pandemic and especially the challenges faced by universities in emerging economies.”

Pitso Mosimane defends Percy Tau move, hits back at Benni McCarthy’s claims

Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has defended his latest signing Percy Tau, and has clapped back at Benni McCarthy for his claims about the player’s career trajectory.

Mosimane who finally acquired his long-term target Tau, a marquee signing for Al Ahly from Brighton in the English Premier League, has already began protecting his new player.

Tau’s move split opinions

Shortly after completing his move to Al Ahly, there were a lot of polarising opinions on whether it was the right or the wrong move for Tau. McCarthy, who enjoyed an illustrious career abroad, which included a Champions League triumph with Portuguese giants FC Porto, and stints in England with both Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United, was amongst the most vocal.

McCarthy stated that, Tau deciding to leave Brighton and the English Premier League instead of staying to fight for his place, could have a negative impact on South African players who then wish to follow in those very same footsteps and pursue a career in that league. The Bafana Bafana all time top goal scorer also indicated that Tau joining Al Ahly was a backward move in the tricky winger’s career.

Jingles defends his new signing and hits back

Mosimane who will re-united with “The Lion of Judah” who he coached at former club Mamelodi Sundowns, then came out questioning why the critics, especially those like McCarthy didn’t help Tau stay in Europe, to aid the trajectory of his career. That, was possibly a hint that the Bafana Bafana international didn’t have too many options abroad, which made the move back to the African continent, with Egyptian giants Al Ahly his best option.

“All these people that are saying, Percy( Tau) should’ve gone wherever, who assisted Percy, why didn’t they pick up the phone,” Mosimane said on Soccerzone.

“No one said, hey I played in England, I played in Portugal, I played in Italy. Pick up the phone, help a brother. Call that club, they know you.  Some of them they have grandstands named after them and all of that. Call other teams, here is a talented young star, I give you my word. They never did. Why does nobody speak about Keagan Dolly leaving Europe to come back to Kaizer Chiefs? Keagan Dolly left Ligue 1 to play for Kaizer Chiefs.” Continued Mosimane on Tau

His question is about the criteria the president uses to appoint ministers.

The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) leader Kenneth Meshoe wants Ramaphosa to say what steps the government is taking to protect unvaccinated employees who are given ultimatums by their employers.

He’s also asked if there will be protection for tenants who face losing their accommodation if they don’t get vaccinated.

Sidharth Shukla was not keen on Bollywood

Like Sushant Singh Rajput after Pavitra Rishta, Sidharth Shukla was already a huge name on television when he made his Bollywood debut in 2014 with Karam Johar’s Humpty Sharma Hi Dulhania.

In spite of the film’s success, Sidharth was not too keen on pursuing a career in Bollywood. In an interview with me Sidharth had said, “Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was a great experience. I didn't have the author-backed role. And yet I didn't feel side-lined at all. Throughout the shooting and afterwards during promotion it was 'Humpty' Varun Dhawan, 'Dulhaniya' Alia Bhatt and the Dulhaniya's fiancĂ© played by me. Not for a second did I feel secondary. I've no regrets about at all about doing Humpty Sharma.”

However he ruled out a career in Bollywood. “Now until I get something as appealing as Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania I am back giving all my time to television."

Sidharth Shukla says juggling between Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya and Ballika Vadhu was not easy. "Earlier I had juggled between Jhalak Dikhla Jaa and Ballika Vadhu. So doing two projects together was not new to me. Being at two different shootings at the same time was something I kind of knew how to do. Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania was something I had to do. I had to stretch myself as an actor."
