ANC’s Jessie Duarte recovering in hospital, placed on medical leave

The African National Congress (ANC) has wished its deputy secretary-general Jessie Duarte a speedy recovery after she was admitted to a hospital on Sunday over “gastrointestinal complications.” She has since been placed on medical leave.

“The DSG was admitted to hospital on Sunday, 28 November 2021 with gastrointestinal complications requiring various investigations, an interventional procedure and other treatment. Further results are awaited. The initial procedure has been successful. As a result, the DSG will be on medical leave for the next few weeks. She will discharge her duties and responsibilities in accordance with advice from her medical team,” says ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe.

PRESIDENT CYRIL RAMAPHOSA VISITS JESSIE DUARTE

ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa has already paid a visit to Jessie Duarte in hospital on Tuesday, 30 November 2021. According to Mabe, Ramaphosa found Duarte to be in good spirits and conveyed the best wishes of the leadership and membership to her and her family.

She is being treated by an excellent medical team headed by Professor Jose Ramos of the University of the Witwatersrand, Mabe added.

Duarte’s hospitalisation doesn’t necessarily mean Luthuli House (The ANC’s headquarters) will be brought to a standstill. The ANC says some of its NEC members and other officials will continue with work at the Office of the Secretary General.

“The work of the ANC in general, and the Office of the Secretary General in particular, will continue unabated. The DSG will be assisted in the execution of her duties and functions by full-time National Officials and NEC members based at ANC headquarters. The National Officials will make further announcements in this regard in due course.”

ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe

News of Duarte’s hospitalisation comes as the ANC has been hard at work, like most other political parties, following the local government elections. It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Luthuli House as it has been finalising coalition agreements in some of the 66 hung municipalities, while also trying to retain power in others.

No state funds utilised for payment, delivery of cattle to Zuma: Mkhwebane

Public Protector Busi Mkhwebane has sought to explain why she will not pursue the matter against former North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo in relation to his alleged facilitation of the delivery of cattle to former President Jacob Zuma‘s home at Nkandla in KwaZulu-Natal.

Former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) secretary-general Godrich Gardee lodged the complaint in April 2018.

The complaint was based on a newspaper article that detailed that Mahumapelo delivered the herd of cattle costing R1.5 million, meant for emerging farmers to Zuma as a gift.

Mkhwebane says the state did not pay for the donation and delivery of the cattle.

“No state funds were utilised for the payment and delivery of cattle to the former President. There is also no evidence to indicate that the former Premier abused the public trust and the fiscus for his private benefit, thereby violating clauses 2.1 and 2.3 of the Executive Ethics Code. In light of the afore-going, we have therefore decided not to pursue the matter any further and thus finalise it by means of a closing report,” adds Mkhwebane.

Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane releases investigation reports:

Money Heist spin-off Berlin starring Pedro Alonso to premiere on Netflix in 2023

On November 30, the Money Heist cast attended a fan event. The event saw the cast, creators and fans from all over the world in a global celebration of the legacy of La Casa de Papel. In anticipation of the launch of the show finale on December 3rd, the event featured conversations with the stars of the show, exclusive announcements, and exciting content.

“It is a memorable moment because it is the end of one cycle and the beginning of another,” Alonso said at the fan event. “Today I was talking to Jesús Colmenar and we were saying that now we walk into the unknown, open to whatever happens and without expectations.”

“I know that these people will give the series every possible twist and turn,” he said. “The responsibility (of spinning off such a popular series) can be a burden and a prison, I hope we continue to have the courage to use this wonderful energy to risk everything again,” he added.

Set in Madrid, the Money Heist gang has been shut in the Bank of Spain for over 100 hours. They have managed to rescue Lisbon, but their darkest moment is upon them after losing one of their own. The Professor has been captured by Sierra and, for the first time, doesn’t have an escape plan. Just when it seems like nothing else could go wrong, an enemy comes on the scene that is much more powerful than any they’ve faced: the army. The end of the greatest heist in history is approaching, and what began as a robbery will turn into a war. Part 5 of the iconic series will be released in two volumes, on September 3 and December 3, 2021.

The Fatal Kiss: Jacqueline Fernadez’s peck gets her into trouble; she might seek Salman Khan’s help to bail her out of the situation

There are whispered insinuations and veiled smirks in the entertainment industry about the company that Jacqueline Fernandez keeps, after pictures of her cozying up with alleged extortionist Sukesh Chandrasekhar surfaced online.

The Fatal Kiss: Jacqueline Fernadez’s peck gets her into trouble; she might seek Salman Khan’s help to bail her out of the situation

Typically, the actress denied knowing the incarcerated wheeler-dealer. And then clammed up, hoping that the troubles would vanish like a bad dream. But with pictorial evidence carpeting the internet, Ms. Fernandez faces the stickiest situation in her career so far.

A well-known director who knows her well says Jacqueline wasn’t aware of Chandrashekhar's business activities, “He showered her with attention and expensive gifts. She fell for it. She probably didn’t check his identity. Which is as bad as Shilpa Shetty claiming she didn’t know what her husband was up to. If you’re dating/marrying someone you can’t be blind to what he does,” says the director.

Years ago Raj Kapoor’s discovery Mandakini of Ram Teri Ganga Maili fame was caught in highly dubious company. It killed her career. Nothing as drastic is likely to happen to Jacqueline’s career.

A co-star of the actress tells me she will seek the help of her mentor-guide Salman Khan to bail her out of the situation. This likelihood apart the next few weeks won’t be easy on Ms. Fernandez. She has a lot of answering to do. And she may not have the answers that the government agencies are looking for.
