Crayon – “Excuse Me” (Rock You) ft. Toby Shang

Crayon Toby Shang Excuse Me (Rock You)

Crayon Rolls Out New Music – “Excuse Me” (Rock You) featuring Toby Shang.

Mavin/Blowtime youngstar, Crayon teams up with Afro-Hypeman Toby Shang to unleash a brand new song titled “Excuse Me” (Rock You). This is the first single from Crayon since the release of his sophomore EP – TWELVE A.M.

Fusing together Afrobeats, Pop and Carribean sounds, Twelve A.M shows off Crayon’s versatility while remaining true to his roots. With additional support from fellow West African hitmakers Rema and One

Acen, Crayon warms us into the project with the smooth entry of ‘In Sync’ (prod. by London), before picking up the tempo with Rema fuelled party hit ‘Too Correct’ (prod. by Andre Vibez). We are later introduced to the anticipated Summer 2021 Afrobeat anthem ‘Mandem’ which reveals the well complimented collaboration with UK songwriter and producer, One Acen, tying the tape together nicely with percussion filled track ‘Jackpot’.

Crayon’s debut EP, “Cray Cray” was one of 2019’s most celebrated releases, producing the global fine girls’ anthems, “So Fine” and “Gock Am”. Cray rose through the ranks in inner-city Lagos to getting discovered by in-house Mavin producers. A standout performance on Don Jazzy’s first posse cut in years, “All Is In Order” was his first introduction. Released months later, his debut EP also produced fan faves, “Unusual” and “Bamiloke”. It earned him a place on multiple “Ones To Watch” lists and a “Rookie of The Year” nomination at the 2019 Headies.

This new single “Excuse Me” (Rock You) is a smooth Afro-fusion record with Amapiano spice produced by Masterkraft. Who The F*ck Are You crooner, Toby Shang brought some lovely mid-tempo hype to the record as Crayon drops the vibe.

Zimbabwe detects case of Omicron variant in country

Zimbabwe has detected a case of the Omicron variant in the country, its Vice President Constantino Chiwenga said on Thursday on state television.

“We are now in a particularly dangerous period once again, where the fourth wave is slowly visiting us with the identification of the B.1.1.529 or the Omicron variant of COVID-19,” Chiwenga, who is also the country’s Health Minister said on national TV.

Chiwenga did not give details of how many cases of Omicron infections had been recorded in the country.

As of December 1,  Zimbabwe had reported 4 707 deaths from a total 135 337 cases.

Meanwhile, Ghana detected the Omicron coronavirus variant in 34 samples from travellers who returned to the country from November 21-25, according to data from the state institute responsible for coronavirus testing.

The Health Ministry on Wednesday announced it had detected the country’s first imported cases of the variant, but did not say how many cases had been identified.

A graphic released by the Noguchi research institute on Thursday said it had checked 120 samples from returning travellers and found 34 that were positive for the variant. It gave no further details about the travellers that were tested.

“These are the first imported cases of the variant in Ghana and we are closely monitoring its potential spread in the community,” the institute said in the data graphic, which was shared by its spokesperson.

The new variant, which has caused global fears of a surge in infections, was first detected in southern Africa and is fast overtaking Delta to become the dominant variant in South Africa, where case numbers are rising dramatically.

SA records over 11 500 new cases

Coronavirus cases in South Africa continue to show a huge surge, with new infections at 11 535 in the past 24-hours, with a more than 3 000 increase from Wednesday’s figure.

This increase represents a 22.4% positivity rate.

Total cases in the country now stand at 2 988 148.

A further 44 people have succumbed to COVID-19 related illnesses, taking total deaths to 89 915.

WATCH | Cristiano Ronaldo scores record 800th goal – does a SIUUU!

Michael Carrick exited Manchester United with a win as Cristiano Ronaldo surpassed 800 goals for club and country with a double to see off Arsenal 3-2 on Thursday.

READ | ONLY ONE TEAM IS YET TO WIN A HOME DSTV PREMIERSHIP MATCH!

Carrick was taking charge for the final time as caretaker manager with new interim boss Ralf Rangnick watching from the stands and announced after the match he will leave the club rather than return to his coaching role.

The former Manchester United midfielder was part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s coaching staff and had been criticised by former team-mate Paul Scholes for remaining at the club following the Norwegian’s dismissal.

“It’s 100% my decision,” said Carrick.

“I thought it was the right thing to do for the club and for Ralf and I’m quite happy with that.

“We were in a situation where there was a responsibility to see these games through. The loyalty to Ole is a little bit of a factor but there were a lot of things that came into my decision.”

A vital three points means Rangnick will take over with Manchester United just three points off the Premier League top four and with an enticing run of fixtures to come over the festive period.

Victory also rounded off a fine stint for Carrick as caretaker after progress to the Champions League last 16 and a creditable 1-1 draw at Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Manchester United fans paid homage to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

The United fans paid homage to Solskjaer with a banner in the first match at Old Trafford since he was dismissed.

However, once the action got underway, nothing seemed to have changed from the final days of the his reign as United started in a similar fashion to humiliating home defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ben White had chances for the visitors inside the first two minutes.

When Arsenal did go in front on 13 minutes it was in strange fashion.

Emile Smith Rowe’s shot bounced into an unguarded net with David De Gea down injured having been stood on by his own player Fred.

Referee Martin Atkinson blew the whistle to stop play, but only after the ball had crossed the line and therefore the goal had to stand.

Arsenal players rebuffed Manchester United’s request to stand aside and allow them to equalise in a gesture of fair play.

But they did so of their own accord a minute before half-time when Jadon Sancho and Fred combined to tee up Fernandes to slot home his first goal since September.

Cristiano Ronaldo was dropped to the bench by Carrick at Stamford Bridge on Sunday amid suggestions that may become a more common occurrence under Rangnick’s high-energy style.

Accommodating the 36-year-old has been one of the causes of United’s decline defensively this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 12 goals in 17 matches

But Ronaldo has kept his end of the bargain with 12 goals in 17 games since returning for a second spell with the Red Devils.

He coolly slotted home Marcus Rashford’s cross, but United’s lead lasted just two minutes as Arsenal responded with almost a carbon copy equaliser.

This time Gabriel Martinelli was the provider for Odegaard to steer into the far corner.

“We had some really good moments and when you score two goals you expect to get something from the game, but it is our own fault,” said Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

“We deserve much more than we got but you get punished against this quality of players.”

On the night he reached another remarkable personal milestone, the stage was set for Ronaldo to breathe new life into United’s season when Fred was chopped down inside the box by Odegaard 20 minutes from time.

Fernandes blasted over when he retained penalty duties against Aston Villa earlier in the season.

Incredible goal tally

This time he stood aside for his international team-mate, who smashed the ball high past Ramsdale for his 130th United goal across two spells.

Cristiano Ronaldo also scored 450 goals for Real Madrid, 101 at Juventus, five for Sporting Lisbon and is the record goalscorer in international football with 115 for Portugal.

The former midfielder steadied the ship for the Red Devils after the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, taking four points from two Premier League games against Arsenal and Chelsea as well as progressing to the last 16 of the Champions League.

Michael Carrick was part of Solskjaer’s coaching staff and had been criticised by former United midfielders Paul Scholes and Roy Keane for remaining at the club following the Norwegian’s dismissal.

The club’s new interim manager Ralf Rangnick watched Thursday’s 3-2 win over Arsenal from the stands at Old Trafford and will formally take over on Friday.

“When I first signed over 15 years ago, I never in my wildest dreams could have imagined winning so many trophies and I will certainly never forget the fantastic memories both as a player and as a member of the coaching team,” Carrick said in a statement posted on the United website.

“However, after a lot of thought and deliberation, I have decided that now is the right time for me to leave the club.

“I want to place on record my thanks to all of the players and a special mention goes to the backroom staff, working long hours with such a great group of people has been a real pleasure and I have made some long-lasting friendships.”

Michael Carrick has an incredible Manchester United CV

Carrick played 464 games for the United between 2006 and 2018, winning five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, two League Cups, the Champions League, Europa League and the Club World Cup.

He joined the first team coaching staff when he retired in 2018 and served under both Jose Mourinho and Solskjaer.
